  1. I’m also a New Yorker now living in MS, and I’m in complete culture shock! It makes me question everything I’ve ever know or thought.

    • Nicole, the best thing I can tell you is that you will feel uncomfortable until you let go of New York expectations and meet the South on its own terms. They will never have a New York minute down here EVER. They will, however, have moments of warmth and authenticity that no roof-garden-artisanal hipster-bearded hydroponic farming can ever produce in Williamsburg. I recommend doubling down on black-wearing Johnny Cash and Elvis. You can never go wrong in the South with Elvis.

The South is lovable, Nicole, once you get over the shock, but it will never be New York, no more than New York can be a meadow filled with wild flowers.

      Welcome here.
